The inspiration came from the dried rosettes that hang on my windowsill that I stare at every day. I always look at it and begin to think about the meaning of life and death, and find that life in this world has its own destiny. Only after life and death can life complete a cycle . I also pray every day that I will have good luck while I am alive. I have made a connection between my usual habits of thought and content and the traditional Chinese festival of Dragon Boat Festival, where people not only commemorate and remember the lives that have passed away, but also go to temples to pray for good luck,which is to think about life and death at the same time.

I extracted the tendency of my eyes to move when gazing, the gestures I make when praying, and studied the structure of the lotus root, the object I was gazing at. By examining its structure, I discovered that it has the beauty of both life and death, as the lotus root, lotus flower, lotus leaf and lotus puff, which represent the various stages of life, are completely separate individuals, each with their own characteristics, yet connected at the beginning and end, existing simultaneously to show the cycle of life. As this is a traditional Chinese festival, I have also examined the texture of the Chinese painting and the cursive script.
